Ok... I'm a 23yr old American guy. I have a young uncle he's only 28 he was actually GIVEN a free trip to the Philippines from a co-worker who couldn't get the time off work to go! So
he decided to take me and my brother who's 20 turning 21 with him to the Philippines for 2 weeks!!! We're both in college and have the summer off so it works out perfectly!!!!
But none of us have ever been to the Philippines!!! None of us can speak tagalog, and we really don't even know anything about Philippino people!

Hi! Everything actually depends on what part of the Philippines you are going to stay.
Communication wouldn't be a problem since almost everyone can speak and use English in the Philippines. Filipinos like Americans, they actually adapt the westernized culture.
If you hate pollution, garbage, street kids, etc, avoid Manila or Malate area. But you may also simpy visit the historical places around Manila. The best place to be in the Philippines is Makati, Metro Manila. Makati is the most industrialized city in the Phil. It is the financial center. Great Malls, shopping destinations, party places, and business establishments are found in this city.
If you like to hit the beach, visit Boracay. It is one of the top ten beaches in the world. Filipinos are very kind and friendly people. They love Americans so I guess you will have a great time in the Philippines.
