Estelle Getty the Golden girl rested in peace on July 22, 2008. She was an American actress born on 25 July, 1923 who worked in films and television.



She is recognized as The Golden Girl because she worked for a long time in the serial and for which she had won Emmy Award in 1988 as an outstanding supporting actress in a Comedy Series and Golden Globe Award as Actress in a Leading Role – Musical or Comedy Series in 1986.



She was a diminutive actress who spent 40 years struggling for success before landing a role of a lifetime in 1985 as the sarcastic octogenarian Sophia on TV's. Her former co-star Rue McClanahan of 'Golden Girls' said, "Estelle always wanted to be an actress, and she achieved that goal beyond her dreams".
